MOST multi-millionaires choose to spend their holidays in a luxurious, far-flung part of the world.

But Netherfield couple Ivan and Susan Westbury's first holiday since scooping more than £7.7 million on the lottery will be a more low-key affair – a budget caravan holiday in Cornwall in September with their dog.

"It's one of those £9.50 newspaper holiday offers where we had to collect tokens," said 64-year-old Mr Westbury. "It's the only place where we could take our 'Westie' dog, Holly."

And Mr Westbury, who has run lightning protection business Sentinel Lightning for the last 19 years, said he has decided to continue running the company, but may now take a day off to celebrate.

The couple scooped the jackpot in Saturday's National Lottery draw.

Mr Westbury began work as a steeplejack in 1961 before he set up Sentinel Lightning. "I was back at work an hour after Susan told me the news to finish off what I was doing," he said.

"It just felt normal to me as I have a passion about work and it's my own business. I love what I do. I've not had a day off for four years, but I think I will have one off now and maybe work three or four days a week.

"There are 30 people there who need a job and I cannot just leave them in the lurch."

Mrs Westbury, 62, discovered they had won the jackpot after checking their ticket at the Tesco store in Carlton Hill on Sunday.

Recounting the moment, she said: "I handed over my ticket to be scanned but something seemed wrong and I asked if the machine had broken.

"The young lad then handed me a pink slip of paper and said I had to call Camelot. I was in complete shock and couldn't make myself function properly."

Mrs Westbury bought the winning lucky dip ticket at Morrisons in Victoria Park Way, in Netherfield, in the days leading up to the draw.

Mr Westbury, an avid Nottingham Forest fan, grew up in Sneinton, with Mrs Westbury hailing from St Ann's.

They said they plan to use the money to help their family, while also "doing the Lottery thing" by upgrading their car, home and going on exotic holidays in the years to come.
