Neil makes it four in a row at a chilly Makins
THE Kobra Open was switched to Lake Four as it was the only ice-free lake on the Dynamite Makins complex.
In spite of the strong and bitterly cold east wind, four anglers caught carp, including in-form Alan Neil (Tackle Shack), who made it three consecutive wins with 24-8.
He did well to catch four carp, all on bomb and corn, from peg 7.
Second-place fell to Long Eaton's John Adamson (Kobra Feeders) from peg 9. He also landed four carp on bomb and corn for 20-4.
Phil Hull caught a small carp and some nice roach on pole and caster for 8-8.
The following day's match was switched to Thames because of the weather.
In spite of anglers having to break the ice up, which was up to an inch thick in places, all bar one caught fish.
Neil continued his remarkable run with a double double top with 24-10 at peg 2. Fishing pole and pinkies, he carp to 6lb, plus several skimmer bream.
Second-placed Simon Skelton (Middy) on peg 11, lost several carp, but still weighed 14-4, after edging out Phil Hull (Lanes Bait & Tackle). He landed 14lb from peg 15, for his third successive third-placed spot.
Kobra Opens are at Dynamite Makins every Thursday on Phases 2 or 3. Telephone 07749 284 823, or be in the car park by 9.15am. It is £15 all in at the draw.
