NOTTS CCC's overseas signing Dirk Nannes today revealed his friendship with crowd favourite David Hussey was a big factor in his decision to join the club for this season's revamped Friends Provident t20.

Nannes is currently in India preparing for his second season in the IPL with Delhi Daredevils and will arrive at Trent Bridge with unrivalled credentials.

In a relatively short professional career, he has already won domestic Twenty20 tournaments with Middlesex and Victoria Bushrangers.

And he has also beaten England at Lord's while representing the Netherlands and secured a place in Australia's one-day side.

His passion for skiing prevented him from taking cricket seriously in his formative years and he gained his first professional contract with Victoria as a 28-year-old in 2005.

"Dave Hussey approached me at Victoria and said that Notts were interested and would give me a call and his endorsement was a big factor in why I wanted to sign," says Dirk.

"Whenever you walk into a new club it takes time to get to know everyone but having Huss there will help me to settle and get amongst the rest of the guys.

"I've got a decent amount of experience of English conditions and I know that certain things work here that don't work elsewhere and certain things get punished by batsmen. I tend to bowl a bit straighter here because if you don't, you find yourself getting flicked off towards third man."

Nannes plans to fly straight from the ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies to Nottingham, giving him ample time to prepare for the Outlaws first home fixture against Derbyshire Falcons on Friday 11 June.

Nannes said: "I'm coming to Notts because I think the team can be successful in this tournament.

"Huss is a great player and the whole team looks good on paper so we'll be looking to win it."

Notts Outlaws will play eight home matches in the Friends Provident t20 and tickets are on sale now with discounts in place for advanced purchases.
