NOTTINGHAM'S tram system has been named one of the UK's best modern developments, according to a new report.

The NET came joint fourth in the poll, along with other tram systems in Sheffield, Manchester and Edinburgh.

The London Eye was top in the list of modern developments, with Coventry Cathedral rated the best preserved urban area.

Nottingham's most historic preserved landmark was said to be Nottingham Castle.

The poll was for the latest chapter of the Somerfield Local Life Report.

The research questioned more than 2,000 adults nationwide about their attitudes to development and its impact on towns and cities.
