THE Tales of Robin Hood shut its doors at the beginning of the year.

It was losing around £60,000 a year and closed after running up rent arrears with the loss of as many as 40 jobs.

The decision to put the attraction into voluntary liquidation followed talks between former chief executive Ian Walker and stakeholders, including Nottingham City Council.

Mr Walker had called for the city council to help restore the Maid Marian Way attraction to its former glory. But the council refused to bail it out.

Speaking to the Evening Post after the closure in January, he said: "I would like to see the attraction reopen as I do not think Nottingham, as a tourist destination, can afford to lose another attraction.

"If you go to any other major city and look at what they have, Nottingham is going to fall further down the league table for tourism.

"Tourism is essential, at this moment, for the economy of Nottingham."
