Mulcaster wins third triathlon title
MANSFIELD optician Hannah Mulcaster won the women's race at the Wolverhampton Triathlon, her third victory of the 2008 season and by the biggest margin to date.
She completed the 1,500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run in 2:15:22, more than nine minutes ahead of second placed Victoria Web from the RAF.
Mulcaster's splits were 19:41 for the swim, 72:58 for the bike, and 44:25 for the run.
Fellow Mansfield Triathlon Club member Sally Hughes came in fourth in 2:27:09, just 45 seconds off a podium finish.
In the men's race, Mansfield were represented by Stephen Melhuish (2:19:24), Anton Newell (2:20:33), Chris Shooter (2:22:46), Peter Orme (2:24:27), and David Presho (2:32:35). Orme finished third place in the senior veterans category.
