Nottingham Post

IT is 6pm on Thursday, March 24, 2011. The day thousands of teenage girls have been waiting for (and, from the sounds of things, most of them are waiting at our backstage gates). Almost a year after going on sale, Bieber Fever has most definitely hit Nottingham.

There's a DJ on our plaza blasting out the Canadian's hits, merchandise has been selling for hours and our social media has gone absolutely crazy with pleas for backstage passes and free tickets. We've just spent the afternoon taking pictures of the set and backstage – including fans who have been waiting at our backstage gates for over 12 hours.

Then, suddenly we see him… Bieber is in the building.

And we've just been told we have a meet-and-greet with him… *SCREAM*

We're asked to wait whilst Justin finishes his soundcheck but told we can watch if we want. Yes we do want – but no pictures are allowed (boo). Thirty minutes pass and there's no sign of Biebs finishing for our meet-and-greet We can hear fans waiting, getting more excited by the minute. Another 15 minutes pass before Justin finishes and has a minder carry him in a fireman's lift across the arena, still singing into his mic.

Suddenly he's there, with three huge security guards, asking how we are doing and "what's going on", etc.

Then it's a case of smile, pose, one photo and it's all over.

We thank Justin and pass through all his incredibly excited fans in the next room. We check our phone, deciding who we should call first to tell about what just happened… And word is out that Hollywood megastar Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith are in the building to support their kids, Jaden and Willow, Justin's support acts.

Fast-forward nearly two years and we're about to do it all over again. Since his last visit, Bieber has exploded. He's now the most followed person on Twitter, has collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Boyz II Men – and has even got 5attoos... rock and roll!

The Believe Tour will see Bieber supported by Canadian starlet Carly Rae Jepsen and upcoming Aussie star Cody Simpson. Security preparation has been going on for months.

The gig is a standing floor, so we are asking people with a seated ticket not to arrive before 6.30pm as they will not be allowed in until then. Extra tickets have just been released, so call the arena on 0843 373 3000 or visit capitalfmarena.com to book.

Above all, have fun and stay safe – it's going to be an incredible night!
