TEMPORARY chief fire officer Frank Swann has been recommended to take the top post in the county permanently.

Mr Swann has been acting chief fire officer for Notts Fire and Rescue Service since April after Paul Woods took on a secondment to the Fire Protection Association.

The appointment committee interviewed Mr Swann for the permanent position following news that Mr Woods will retire after finishing his secondment.

The committee unanimously recommended Mr Swann be appointed. This will now go before Notts Fire and Rescue Authority on December 19.
