Speaking to a national newspaper today, Mr Topham's estranged mum Julie said: "I hope it changes their lives for the better. It's a staggering amount. From what I can gather they are very much in love."
She said she hadn't spoken with Mr Topham for several years and had joked about needing a lotto jackpot before her son's huge win.
When asked if she would be seeing her son, the 49-year-old said: "That's his choice at the end of the day, he knows where I am."
The couple, of Stapleford, gained the jackpot last weekend.
Miss Carrington, who has three sisters, set up her online account last Friday with £5, played, but did not win, so used the remaining £3 to get a single Lotto line for Saturday and the line for Tuesday's EuroMillions draw, which turned out to be the winner.
The windfall puts them seventh in the list of the largest jackpots ever won in the UK.

“National Lottery euro millions http://tinyurl.com/745vhzq winners usually stay in the papers for a few weeks after their win then it slowly phases out. Remember Dave and Angela Dawes who won £101m in October last year?We saw a few snaps of them shopping after their win now you don't hear much at all!”
