Mobility scooter company given injunction
A COMPANY which provides wheelchairs and mobility aids has been ordered to trade legally after more than 100 complaints about them were received.
An interim injunction was granted against ABM Mobility to trade legally and fairly at a hearing at Nottingham County Court.
The firm, based in Gainsborough Business Park in Long Eaton, can continue trading as long as they abide by the rules, otherwise more serious action may be taken.
The business, which also produces power wheelchairs and mobility appliances, is run by Amarjit Gill.
Councillor Carol Hart, County Council cabinet member for communities, said: "We've tried working with Mr Gill for the past year and took this action as a last resort.
"Very often the people buying mobility aids are vulnerable so we are determined to do what we can to protect them.
"We'll be monitoring the company closely and will not hesitate to go back to court if we receive more complaints."

“My 75 year old father gave this company £1700 for a bed that never arrived. A cold caller turned up at his door and obviously persuaded my father, who suffered from a stroke a few years ago, to part with his cash. Mr Gill, don't forget, you reep what you sow.”

“My nan has just been ripped off for £150 by Lifestyle Mobility, she seems to have got of lightly after reading all of these posts.
My nan was contacted by a man called Wayne Brotherhood and he arranged to come over for a chat. When he was there he tried to sell her everything from a scooter to a walking frame to a new bed to a new bathroom, my nan didnt need any of these but felt as pressured into buying something from him. He said he could sort her our with anything she needed so in the end he took £150 for scooter insurance & breakdown cover with the promise they would contact her within 5 days, this was the middle of March & she has heard nothing so far despite my Auntie constantly ringing & emailing them. The phone number on the business card is unavailable.
How can these con artists be allowed to go round ripping people off??
My nan has got in touch with Watchdog & is looking to go the police & trading standards.
I dont know how these people sleep at night!!!”

“My 86 year old, dementia suffering, Mother in Law has been taken for the sum of £1530 by this company trading as Lifestyle Healthcare.
I don't hold out much hope of getting her cash back”

“This company now trading as Lifestyle Healthcare are now operating in the Stratford area. My 89 year old Mother in Law was contacted by phone (female) and asked to make an appointment to "pop round for a chat and a cup of tea". She thought they were an official body so agreed and was surprised when a man turned up who she disliked straight away. Luckily she had a neighbour with her who talked more than the salesman and he eventually gave up and left but, what would have been the situation if the neighbour had not been there ? Beware.”

“This company is up and running again and recruiting staff. They are currently advertising on 'Jobsite' for sales people. luckily i found this blog while searching info on the company, before attending an interview. I certainly don't want anything to do with these people. I can't understand why they are still allowed to trade, they are not only ripping off vunerable elderly people, but also people who are looking for genuine work.”
