WE are a voluntary organisation and the parking charges in the evenings and on Sundays mean a lot of our members are unable to come in to help or take part in our activities.

Although we rarely have performances on Sundays, we do things like getting ready for shows.

The parking charges also pose a problem for our audience because we are in a part of zone one where there is a one hour maximum stay, so people are really limited.

Some people have reduced mobility and are not eligible for a disabled permit.

These people are forced to park in car parks further away which could put them off.

Another problem is that parents have to sign their children in and out to pick them up or bring them in.

So, they have to pay for the minimum stay. But we have a duty of care for our children to make sure they're not just hanging around in the streets.

The traffic wardens are also very keen here in Hockley and sometimes move people on if they are waiting in the car.

The council wants to revive the city centre and is looking at ways to boost trade.

I think these changes are a step in the right direction, but I don't think they're doing enough.

I would want the council to abolish the evening and Sunday charges completely and also introduce more reasonable prices in the week. They are still very expensive.

    “Hockey Must Die . . .

You know it makes sense . . .

Then the Council can sell the area off to Developers and we can rid Nottingham of all that dreary old stuff . . .”

“This is not good enough Mr Collins. We still need evening and Sunday charges to be completely scrapped.

I have just discovered that someone has set up an online petition calling for the evening and Sunday parking charges to be completely scrapped. Please will all Nottingham Post readers make an effort to sign this important petition and forward to as many friends, work colleagues and relatives to sign as well.

During first 48 hours there are already many hundreds of people signed. I predict that if figure reaches to above ten thousand then we may well see Ms Urquhart resign or get sacked”
