VOTERS in Carlton are being asked to go to the polls again after a councillor moved to Mexico.

Ian Howarth was elected to represent the Phoenix ward on Gedling Borough Council for the first time in May.

But he resigned earlier this month to teach children in a town just outside Mexico City.

The council has now called a by-election for September 15.

“I'm standing in the Phoenix by-election (Thursday 15th September) because I want to make a real difference. It would be a honour to be your councillor.

I will personally be delivering my leaflets, so if you see me on the street come and have a chat with me. I'm genuine and here to listen to you. I've designed and published my own leaflet with funds from my own pocket. I'm ready to stand up for the people of Phoenix!

You may have seen the press release from Peel Environmental and UK Coal regarding the plans for a waste burning incinerator/energy from waste plant at Gedling Colliery. I want to stop these plans with my campaign and if I'm elected I will object to these plans from within the council too!

I believe the people of Phoenix and Gedling will not risk the collapse in property values, the risk of pollution, or the risk to their health.

Anyone interested in the fight, or in UKIP, or who would like to talk to me, you can e-mail me at vote.lee@live.co.uk, or follow me on Twitter at LeeWatersUKIP.
