NOTTS County hope to sign a couple more players before they fly out to Austria next Saturday.

The Magpies have already made six new signings ahead of the new League Two season, with defenders Graeme Lee and Forest's Brendan Moloney and midfielder Ben Davies the latest to join the club.

The trio follow Ricky Ravenhill, Neal Bishop and Craig Westcarr into Meadow Lane.

Boss Ian McParland is still pursuing a number of transfer targets to complete the 20-man squad he wants before the start of the season on August 8.

He is eager to further bolster the Magpies' midfield and capture a 20-goal hit man, with Lee and on-loan Moloney completing his defensive signings.

Notts will spend a week training at the National Sports Centre in Obertraun, Austria, for a second successive year, between July 11-18 – and will play two friendlies.

McParland said: "Things will start to happen quickly now the season is getting closer.

"We want 18 outfield players ideally.

"I don't say too much until things happen – some managers do, but I don't.

"We're still pursuing strikers and hopefully by the time we go to Austria we will have a few more players in the door."

The Magpies will play friendlies against Forest, Derby and a Liverpool XI at Meadow Lane on their return from Austria to step-up their preparations to their first league game against Bradford City on home soil.

McParland hopes his side start the season like they did last year – but win more games.

They began the last campaign in fine form but still drew nine of their opening 12 league games, winning only twice.

"If we make a good start and get a few points on the board early on, it will breed confidence and belief and momentum – it's vital," he said.

“Charlie is doing everything right. Signing quality players in numbers and getting the positive vibes flowing around the Lane. JAH has done his bit in negotiating a deal that will make us Nottingham's Premier club again and the season ticket sales are booming. Charlie is a hero and definately the right man to lead us to glory. Up The Super Pies.”

“Charlie has made some great signings. A few more players and this squad as something we were missing last season and that was competition for places. The Notts players will have to give their all in each and every game this coming season. All the other teams will be aware of the recent takeover news and will see Notts has a big scalp, they will put more effort into trying to beat us. However it's a great position to be in and one i'm sure that the Notts Players will relish.”
