IAN McParland today pledged he will get it right at Notts County.

The Magpies slumped to their fourth defeat in five league games at Meadow Lane against relegation-threatened Grimsby Town.

They are now 18th in League Two, following the 2-0 loss to the Mariners.

And manager McParland said: "I will correct it. I have to or I won't be here.

"We have got to pick ourselves up and go again. We've not got a bad spirit here and we have to stick together and get a result at Morecambe."

McParland felt his side dominated against Grimsby in the first half before falling behind to Rob Atkinson's header just seven minutes into the second half.

And he was convinced Danny Boshell was offside for the visitors' disputed second goal.

He said: "We dominated the first half and had four great chances but we didn't take any of them.

"Their goalie made a few good saves. I thought we might have had a penalty too, when Myles Weston went down in the box.

"But we started the second half like schoolboys and again we switched off from a set-play. Once we gave the goal away it was always going to be tough.

"I'm still wondering how they managed to get their second goal because I thought it was offside."

McParland admitted his side struggled to recover from the early setback in the second half.

"It affected them because we were dominating the game up to that point, but it's up to the players to stand up and be men," he added.

"We had a few chances but it's a tough old game."

“We are a poor side in a poor division. It is only through clubs having point deductions that we will finish as high as we will. It is apparent that the club are really struggling both on and off the pitch. It is particularly worrying that the players show such little drive and determination and, not for the first time, cave in after going behind. The new season tickets prices were announced in yesterday's programme, the prices are staying the same, but it's hard to justify making the commitment when the club continue to leave their supporters so disillusioned. Whether changing the manager is worthwhile is debatable, who would want the job anyway? However, if Charlie is retained, he certainly needs to look carefully at his squad, we don't have much money but it's apparent that too many players are either not up to the job or lack the pride and passion to play for the club.”

“The opposing midfield always seems to pick up the loose balls & with a couple of exceptions there seems little hunger from the majority of players to do better. The players could & should be playing better than this & that is the manager's responsibitly to sort out.”

“Lets hope there is no trigger happy decisions, it's about time the club had some stability, nothing is achieved by changing the manager every season, until we get it right, Charlie's heart is with Notts, that'a half the job, let him use his tactical nouse to build that team, i get frustrated that this is not good enough for next season, but that's frustration...good luck charlie...make it happen.”
