McParland: Sven will make my life easier
IAN McParland today said Sven-Goran Eriksson will make his life easier – not harder.
Eriksson's arrival at Meadow Lane as director of football has cranked up the pressure on the Magpies to get back into the big time.

It has put the club under the world spotlight.
First-team boss McParland is convinced the European style management set-up will work at Meadow Lane.
He believes Eriksson will take a lot off his plate to allow him to focus fully on coaching and managing the players.
The former England boss has signed a five-year deal with the club for a reported £2m a year.
His job will include negotiating transfers with players' agents, developing a scouting network, the youth academy and training facilities.
With McParland eager to sign a left winger to replace Myles Weston and sign another central midfielder, the Swede will already be hard at work.
McParland said: "I don't like negotiating with agents so it will be handy to get that off my plate.
"It gives me more time to concentrate on the training field, working with the players.
"I love managing the players and I love speaking to players, trying to get them to come and play for me."
The club's rich new Middle Eastern owners, Munto Finance, want to run the Magpies like a Premier League club.
McParland believes the set-up at Meadow Lane already rivals Championship clubs.
The Centre of Excellence was re-introduced last year and they signed 15 scholars in the summer.
England Under-21 psychologist Keith Mincher also works with the players.
"The most important things at a football club are the players and having a good training ground," added McParland.
"Because of financial reasons we have never been able to set up a proper scouting network, hopefully we can do that now.
"I have started the school of excellence, we have got scholars on board and we've improved the medical side.
"We have got a good fitness coach and physio, we have got the club doctor and specialist, and masseurs.
"We have got a psychologist that comes in, who works with the England Under-21s.
"We have got everything I want that is the best for the players.
"They have got everything they would have at a Championship club.
"Everything is in place and now we have to go to the next level."
