MARSHALLS have now become the biggest threat to Farnsfield's hopes of winning the league after a workmanlike four-wicket win over Glapwell.

After Marshalls' skipper Paul Van den Heuvel won the toss, his bowlers simply ran through Glapwell and bowled them out for 135 with Andrew Coles (3-29) and Gary Andrews (3-15) inflicting the damage.

Marshalls were made to struggle for the runs but once again Van den Heuvel led from the front scoring 46 to ease them to 139- 6 and victory, 21 points adrift of the leaders.

Farnsfield crushed Bridon and look to be regaining their best form when it is most needed. Earlier in the season Bridon had beaten Farnsfield but there was never likely to be a repeat.

Bridon were dismissed for only 123, which could have been even worse as Kiwi Tim Muir scored 50 out of the paltry total as Lewis Saxby took 4-19.

Farnsfield sailed past the target on 125-1 with Sam Wood (71*) and Paul Franks (31*) making things look ridiculously easy.

Retford are charging up the table although they have left it too late for this season. They easily saw off the challenge of Edwinstowe at Cricket Field Lane by seven wickets.

Batting first, Edwinstowe made 174 -9 with Paul Benson (36), Australian star Wade Townsend (46) and Ian Smith (50*) all batting well. Retford's unassuming Chandra Kumara took 3-46 and quickly followed that up with a scintillating unbeaten 93 as Retford cruised to 180-3.

Kiveton Park are another side who after an indifferent start are now making a great fist of things, Thoresby Colliery their latest victims.

Kiveton made a daunting 238-7 with Ed Brown (34), Tim Ward (54) and Lee Brooks a terrific unbeaten 47. Shailesh Patel (3 for 44) and Usman Mustapha (3 for 76) bowled well for Thoresby.

Thoresby started reasonably well with Nigel Burkitt making 36 and Shailesh Patel a hard-hit 51. But then Brooks stepped forward to totally destroy the Thoresby innings with 6-48.

Fight as they may, Waleswood must now be used to things going wrong and they were once again heavily beaten by six wickets by Notts & Arnold Amateur.

Dave Wood took 5-31 as Waleswood were dismissed for 121 with an over to spare. Mark North took complete command with a battling unbeaten 54 and never looked in trouble.
