A MANSFIELD author is launching the first in a series of children's books on Thursday.

Joanne Bekis will be at the Mansfield I-Centre to launch Bubble and Butterfly.

It features her fun-loving character Bubble embarking on the first of many fun adventures that will be chronicled in a series of books over the coming years.

It is published by Strategic Book Publishers.

Jo's inspiration to write the children's stories came following shock redundancy from the recycling industry back in November 2005.

While relaxing in a bubble bath, contemplating her future, the character Bubble popped into her head.

She has since written 22 books based on the character.
