Man arrested on suspicion of carrying imitation gun in Long Eaton street

A MAN was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm in a public place in Long Eaton.

Police were called to William Street at just after 9pm yesterday.

When they arrived they were confronted with a man holding what looked like a gun.

He left the scene and went to College Street, where he spoke to several members of the public.

He was arrested by armed officers soon after. He was found to be holding an imitation weapon.

The 38-year-old man arrested is in police custody.

Derbyshire Police closed the road while they carried out inquiries. No one was hurt.
