Man, 39, held on suspicion of murder after pensioner dies in Elkesley

A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police were called to Headland Avenue, in Elkesley, after a 64-year-old man suffered serious head injuries.

He died on the way to hospital at about 5am yesterday.

A post-mortem examination is yet to be carried out and the man has not been formally identified.

Crime officers carried out a forensic examination of the house in Headland Avenue yesterday and a cordon remains in place.

The suspect is currently in police custody.
