Magpies appoint Curle, while duo follow Allen out of club
NOTTS County today appointed Keith Curle as their new manager.
Curle, 48, succeeds Martin Allen, who was sacked two days ago, at Meadow Lane.
The Magpies have appointed Colin Lee and Colin West to Curle's backroom team, after relieving Allen's assistant Carl Muggleton and first-team coach John Schofield of their duties today.
Chris Kiwomya has also joined the club in a new role of development squad manager and Kevin Pilkington has returned as goalkeeping coach.
Curle was capped three times by England as a player and was a club record signing for Manchester City in 1991 when they paid £2.5m to sign him from Wimbledon.
He began his managerial career at Mansfield Town in December 2002 and led the Stags to a play-off final in his only full season in charge at Field Mill.
He has also managed Chester City and Torquay United, but has not managed since leaving Plainmoor in 2007.
Since then, Curle has coached at Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers under the management of former Magpies' manager Neil Warnock.

you County fans need to realise, he did inherit some very decent young Players at Field Mill.. Lawrence, Williamson, Hassel, Disley etc
Exactly! His one success along a trail of disasters was with someone else's team. No doubt you'll be laughing your heads off when he takes us down.”

“There's a VERY striking resemblance to the way KC has been appointed at NCFC, to the way he got the job at MTFC. He was at games `WATCHING` before Watkiss was sacked & then walked straight into the post. Seems he's also been in the stands at Meadow Lane `WATCHING` & yet again has walked straight into the post... VERY STRANGE? Don't get me wrong, he was a decent Manager, got the team playing attractive football & our gates nearly doubled, BUT some Players will not survive. He will not tolerate anyone who questions him & is a stickler for discipline. Any Player that answers back or has an opinion will be out of the door!!! Good luck to him, but you County fans need to realise, he did inherit some very decent young Players at Field Mill.. Lawrence, Williamson, Hassel, Disley etc etc. Can't remember him actually signing many decent Players, though he might be far better having worked with NW for so long.”

“countytillidie:
Of course we have to get behind him, but it is difficult to give off any other than negative vibes when we have appointed a man with a proven track record of taking teams down and not up.
We will see.
