BROXTOWE MP Anna Soubry has written to the Transport Secretary calling for green-belt land near the proposed high-speed rail line in Toton to be protected.

The Government wants to build a new station at Toton Sidings as part of plans for a high-speed rail line linking London with Birmingham and Leeds.

In a letter to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin, Miss Soubry voiced concern about the impact HS2 could have on land around Toton.

She is due to meet railways minister Simon Burns later this week to discuss the HS2 project.
