M1 Notts crash victim named as Kathleen Coton

A NOTTS woman who died in a crash on the M1 on Valentine’s Day has been named as Kathleen Ann Coton.

Ms Coton - affectionately known as Annie - was aged 64 and lived in Epperstone.

She was the passenger in a silver Mercedes C Class, which was involved in a collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter van, one mile south of Watford Services in Northamptonshire.

The collision took place at around 1.20pm, when the C Class was parked on the hard shoulder.

The 70-year-old woman driving the car and a 70-year-old man who was a passenger in the car, both sustained life threatening injuries. They both remain in hospital with serious injuries.

The 30-year-old man who was driving the Sprinter van was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
