SITTING behind a mixing desk, Lord Mandelson and Ben Bradshaw were suitably impressed by the Confetti Institute.

The Ministers were given a demonstration of how Nottingham's young musicians record their latest music.

Confetti, in the city centre, provides media and music training and has helped thousands of young people get a foothold in creative industries.

At the end of his tour, Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, officially opened the Antenna Centre – a new unit at Confetti for businesses in the creative sector.

He spoke of his pride to have seen Confetti, describing the mix of creativity as "unique" and "all singing, all dancing".

Ben Bradshaw, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, was shown clips of recent Nottingham film triumphs – including Shane Meadows' This Is England.

The quality of the clips and their dark themes gave Lord Mandelson a flavour of Bafta award-winning films produced in the city.
