Lord Lawson to speak at Nottingham dinner
FORMER Chancellor of the Exchequer Nigel Lawson will be the star guest at a dinner in Nottingham hosted by wealth management specialists Mattioli Woods.
The firm of pension and wealth managers are staging the event at East Midlands Conference Centre on Thursday, November 22, for clients who include business people from the East Midlands.
The charity dinner will offer an opportunity to hear Lord Lawson speak on the current financial climate. He was Conservative MP for Blaby in Northants between 1972 and 1992. He served in the Thatcher government from 1979 to 1989, as Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Secretary of State for Energy, and, from 1983, as the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Lord Lawson is renowned for his sceptical views in the climate change debate and is the founding chairman of an organisation called the Global Warming Policy Foundation. He is currently chairman of Oxford Investment Partners, which is majority owned by a number of leading Oxford colleges.
