London Road railway bridge repairs start
REPAIR work has started on London Road railway bridge.
Nottingham City Council has started working on the concrete substructure.
The bridge's joints have been leaking, leading to deterioration of the concrete piers below.
London Road railway bridge carries the A60 (London Road) over the rail lines between the junctions of Station Street and Queens Road. It carries about 49,000 vehicles a day.
Nottingham-based Churchill Refurbishment Limited, one of the country's leading specialist concrete repair and structural refurbishment contractors, is carrying out the work.
They will use corrosion prevention technology that has been developed in Nottingham.
The work includes the replacement of sections of damaged concrete and installing equipment that will enable city engineers to better monitor the long-term integrity of the structure.
The works under the bridge are likely to be going on until May but will not cause any disruption to traffic.
