BUSINESSES in Erewash are being offered interest-free loans of up to £500,000 to replace old equipment.

The Carbon Trust is giving firms cash through Erewash Borough Council to be spent on reducing their carbon footprint.

No security is required for the loans and the scheme is designed so anticipated energy savings cover monthly repayments.

Coun Geoff Smith, the council's lead member for regeneration and planning, said: "We have been working with the trust to ensure our town halls at Long Eaton and Ilkeston are more energy-efficient."
