THIS Is Live will be coming to you live from the Splendour Festival.

We'll be opening the second stage at the Wollaton Park music all-dayer on Sunday, July 19, with some of our favourite Nottingham bands.

So far we have Love Ends Disaster! and Captain Dangerous booked to play.

The stage is headlined by Irish punk-pop trio Ash and British soul star Natty was added this week.

"We're splendidly excited about playing Splendour", says Jon Dix of rockers Love Ends Disaster!

"Mainly for being able to hang out with the deer, but I hear there is some ace music too. Hurray for being part of Nottingham's finest outdoor fest."

Indie band Captain Dangerous played the inaugural Splendour last year but on the smaller stage in The Courtyard.

"We had a wicked time last year", says singer/guitarist Adam Clarkson.

"We're really excited as it'll be a bigger show.

"We're bringing a saxophonist, violinist, glockenspiel player and maybe a trombone player as well."

He adds: "Last year we had a few technical problems where my amp blew up and I went through three guitars – and I also thought it'd be nice to wear a Spiderman costume, but then I forgot to bring a change of clothes and had to walk round leaving nothing to the imagination. It was horrible."

The performances will be filmed and posted on the This Is Live website, along with Zoe Kirk's backstage report.

The main stage features Madness, The Pogues, Imelda May, Fun Lovin Criminals, The Rifles, Kid British and Dog is Dead.

There will be two more stages in The Courtyard, featuring more live bands and stand-up comedy from the Funhouse Comedy Club.

Tickets are £15 with a Citycard (available to City of Nottingham residents) or £30. Under 18s pay just £10.

Discounted tickets can be purchased from the Royal Centre and Rock City. All other tickets are available on-line at www.gigantic.com and www.alt-tickets.co.uk.
