Linking sports quarter to city and beyond
THE master-plan for the new stadium and sports quarter includes a new boulevard between Holme Pierrepont and the city centre.
It also includes proposals to run a new tram line from the city to the site. It could also serve West Bridgford and connect to the national rail network via East Midlands Parkway station.
The boulevard would only used by trams, cyclists and pedestrians. The site of the new stadium would be three miles from Nottingham station.
A footbridge would also cross the Trent, linking the sports quarter to Sneinton.
Gamston is already earmarked for a park and ride site for 1,000 cars for commuters but this would be expanded to serve both the football ground and sports facilities.
A spur from the Grantham canal is proposed as well as a marina.
Notts County Council is already looking at the flow of traffic in and out of Nottingham over Trent Bridge.
In anticipation of increased house building in Rushcliffe, the local authority is examining bus priorities over Trent Bridge and along Radcliffe Road.
Even so, a development on this scale would need a major review of traffic flows and road layouts.
