Letter: apology to MPs
FURTHER to my letter (Your Views, February 22) an apology to local MPs Nick Palmer and Alan Simpson who have endorsed the Campaign for Better Transport campaign for lower train fares.
Indeed, the campaign now has support from 142 MPs. It would be good to see the rest of our local MPs endorse the campaign too.
Simon Woodroffe (Your views, February 24) sets readers an interesting challenge, finding a bargain fare from Nottingham to Cambridge for March 24. My suggestion goes:
08:34 Nottingham to Ely 10.13am £8 single, 10:29 Ely to Cambridge 10:47, 17:22 Cambridge to Ely 17:38 £4 return, 17:52 Ely to Nottingham 19:36 £11 single. Total £23 per person.
The single fares are from the East Midlands Trains website and each would be £1 more if purchased at a booking office or other website. They are advance tickets and to get the fare, bookings ought to be made soon.

“"BJ Mann" is "indisposed" at the moment.
They'll let him out soon.”
