Letter: World Cup bias?
AS an avid supporter of your newspaper for many years, I am very disappointed in your coverage of the World Cup bid in Nottingham.
Your pull-out editorial was the final straw. Where is the balanced reporting that your paper has been proud to uphold for many years? Most people in Nottingham support a World Cup bid but most people do not support a new stadium being built in Gamston with more than 500 acres of green belt lost forever. Why is there not more coverage for these objections? Why isn't the Post asking fundamental questions of the Bid Team like how can a car park for 1,000 support a 45,000-seater stadium? How can we justify spending over £100m on moving the A52? And why has the Post advertised an FA visit to the area on November 9 when this was never going to happen and never was planned? Indeed, you still have this misinformation on your website!
Can I politely propose a face-to-face interview with the bid supporters against myself representing 1,000s of Rushcliffe residents to give these issues an airing and fulfil your obligation for more balanced reporting. The fact that the county council and Rushcliffe have withdrawn from the bid indicates how strongly people feel about it.
