Letter: Takeover will not benefit Magpies
I think it is quite obvious that Munto Finance Ltd are not aiming to take over Notts County for the benefit of the club and the community.
They are an acquisition vehicle specially created to gain control of Notts County and can easily be sacrificed without any financial loss to the creators.
To me they clearly intend to muscle in on the proposals already put forward by Nigel Doughty for a new stadium offering the same facilities.
To say Notts County has a strong fan base is incorrect. They have not had one for years. Their current average attendance is only 4,445 and the last time they were in the top flight, was circa 11,000.

Peter Trembling of Munto Finance Ltd, who was at one time Head of Commercial at Everton, should know that the last time Everton visited Meadow Lane in the old first division 1991/92, the attendance was only 7,480.
Bhatia and Strang, Scardino and Storrie all made the same promises and all walked away without any financial loss to themselves but leaving Notts County for the City Council to bail out. At the time Notts swore they would never let speculators take over the club again.
Notts County fans beware. All that glitters is not gold.

“If I remember rightly Scardino lost over £1M of his own money and Bhatia/Strang didn't actually ever get to own NCFC.
Also if you're going to quote Shakespeare its "all that glisters is not gold".”

“linda, you forest fans have gone and gotten all paranoid over our takeover haven't you?
We can always put you up when your ground is flogged off.
Clueless and self obsessed - forest through and through.”

“I simply don't understand why people insist on being so negative all the time. For the first time, we actually have a chance of going somewhere.
And Notts fans should actually be a bit more positive as well; if things don't go well next season, you might then have some sort of excuse to call for the manager's head which you have obviously been waiting so long to do.”
