MAY I say, on behalf of the customers of the HSBC bank on High Street, Ruddington, how very disappointed we are that this branch is being closed down from April 30, 2010, and that our nearest branch is going to be in West Bridgford.

Has anyone stopped to think how impossible this is going to be for those of us who, like myself, are disabled, do not run a car to enable us to get to West Bridgford, nor can we afford taxi fare. We do not all live in the wealthy state.

I am sure I speak for many when I say we feel we have been dismissed out of hand, we have no say in what happens, although many of us have been loyal customers for many years and the way this has been done is unforgivable.

Is this the beginning of the end of our High Street? One can only hope not.

We value our village and want to keep it, in spite of the high-handed attitude of those in control of the big banks.

We should all tell them what we think and that their decision to close is just not acceptable, although they will take no notice of the small voice crying in the wilderness. We do not matter and that is very apparent.
