I HAVE supported humane research charities for many years. I feel that animal experiments should be replaced by other methods as soon as possible.

I am appalled by some of the things which are done to animals in the name of medical science.

However, I do realise this is a very difficult and emotive subject as, when people are ill, they will inevitably look to the medical profession for help.

I support the Dr Hadwen Trust and The Humane Research Trust; they sponsor projects which involve alternatives to animal experiments. I find their literature very informative.

I hope and pray that one day there will be alternatives to all experiments, and it will not be necessary for any animals to suffer.
