A LAW student has denied racially abusing former Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore on Twitter.

Joshua Cryer, of Coal Clough Lane, Burnley, appeared before Newcastle magistrates today accused of sending 'grossly offensive' messages on the social networking site.

Cryer, 21, who studies law at Newcastle University, was arrested last month after Collymore, 40, reported the alleged abuse to Staffordshire Police.

Magistrates will hear the case on April 2.
