Kimberley tram campaigners to update on plans
Kimberley: A campaign group which wants Nottingham's tram network extended to Kimberley is to hold a public meeting tonight.
The Kimberley, Eastwood, and Nuthall Tram Action Group (Kentag) is seeking support for its campaign ahead of launching a public consultation in August.
Group chairman Andy Cooper said bringing the tram to the town would benefit residents, businesses and motorists.
"Public support has been good," he said. "We have spoken to residents, businesses and pub landlords who support the plan."
The meeting is at Kimberley Cricket Club, Newdigate Street, at 7.30pm.

“The residents that live along the old railway route are totally opposed to this proposal, and there is not the large amount support voiced by the action group. The old railway has become a regenerated green area that benefits more than the local residents. The tramline will not reduce the congestion and will actually bring more traffic to the area, and destroy a valuable and irreplaceable green area. The campaign group has done little if any consultation with local residents that would be affected by this proposal. The consultation reported by action group seems very selective.”

“If Lee took the trouble to look at the Kimberley tram proposals, he would learn that the proposed route does not run along any roads, It is mainly on the route of the former Midland Railway and Great Northern Railway lines, yet close to areas of population. So the trolley bus idea is irrelevant.”

“That Lee is because you fail to understand that the fixed link is the very reason why the tram has been so successful. Read the article ¿off their trolley¿ which goes over the nonsense arguments of those anti tram people who attempted to argue for trolley buses. These buses have all the disadvantages of every other means of transport.”
