GREAT Britain’s women’s hockey coach Danny Kerry singled out Nottingham’s Helen Richardson for special praise after his side were confident winners over Korea in a Four Nations tournament in Argentina.

Goals from Crista Cullen, Rebecca Herbert and Alex Danson secured a 3-1 victory after Korea’s Eun Ji Cho had broken the deadlock with an early penalty corner.

Cullen levelled the scores from another set piece before Herbert’s reverse stick shot, shortly after the break, established control.

Danson, the top scorer in the recent five Test series with the USA, then gave Kerry’s team breathing room with a deft deflection.

“The first half was very stretched and although we had the better of the chances I thought 1-1 was a fair reflection of the game at that stage,” said Kerry, whose side take on world champions Argentina on Thursday night and New Zealand on Saturday.

“In the second half we took really good control of the game and created good opportunities. I’m pleased with the result. I thought Helen Richardson was outstanding in the middle of the park in the second half.”
