IF you're looking for something fun and theatrical for the whole family over the Easter holiday, Nottingham Playhouse will be a good place to start. A Philip Pullman children's story comes to the Playhouse stage for a run that lasts the length of the break.
I Was A Rat! is the tale of Roger, the scruffy page boy who shows up one evening on the doorstep of Bob and Joan insisting that he was a rat. The question for them, and the young audience, will be to figure out what he is now.
The funny, physical show features humour, adventure and Pullman's trademark fantasy. Live theatre magic takes the place of CGI effects as Pullman's fanciful worlds are brought to life by weird and wonderful costumes and sets. The piece has an international feel – among the companies co-producing it is Bari, Italy's Teatro Kismet. Italian Teresa Ludovico also adapts and directs it. Fox Jackson-Keen stars as Roger.
