Jimmy Sirrel timeline
Feb 1922 - Born in Glasgow
Nov 1969 - Appointed manager of Notts County with the club struggling in Divison Four
1971 - Wins Division Four title in his first full season
1973 - Wins promotion to Division Two
Oct 1975 - Resigns from his post to take over at Sheffield United
Oct 1977 - Rejoins Notts County to continue the work he had started
1981 - Secures promotion to Division One at Chelsea to send the Magpies into the top flight
Aug 1982 - Howard Wilkinson steps up from his role as coach to take over as manager, with Jimmy moving upstairs as general manager
Oct 1984 - Returns for a third stint, this time as caretaker manager until November 1984
April 1985 - Resumes full managerial duties following Larry Lloyd's failed reign but cannot stop the club from sliding into Division Three
1987 - Retires from management and leaves to become chief scout at Derby County under Arthur Cox
1993 - The newly-redeveloped County Stand is renamed the Jimmy Sirrel Stand in his honour
