Jervis is ready to seize Magpies' opportunity against Sheffield Wednesday
JAKE Jervis will make his second start for Notts County in their Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round tie at Sheffield Wednesday tonight, and is ready to seize his opportunity.
Jervis, an 18-year-old striker who is on loan with the Magpies until January from Premier League club Birmingham City, has already enjoyed cup success in his short career, helping Birmingham reach the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in over 25 years only last year.

The teenager also impressed on his full debut for the Magpies when they beat Championship side Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road in the second round of the Carling Cup.
"I've found it really easy to fit in here," said Jervis, who has made three substitute league appearances for Notts against Huddersfield Town, Oldham and Bournemouth.
"I've been out on loan before, to Hereford, but that was only for a month so this is the first proper loan of my career, and I'm determined to make a success of it.
"My hopes are to play as many games as I can, and get some goals.
"I feel I have got pace, I've got good feet and I'm a decent finisher in and around the box."
Jervis enjoyed his full debut for Notts.
"It was a good experience. It was my first full game, so I was still getting my fitness," he added.
"I felt I did all right. I kept working and running as much as I could, and beating them (Watford) was a good feeling, especially because they were unbeaten. It's a good achievement."
Notts have six strikers at Meadow Lane – last season's leading scorer Lee Hughes, who is currently sidelined with a groin injury, Ben Burgess, Luke Rodgers, Karl Hawley and Kevin Smith.
Jervis still believes he can become a first-choice attacker, ahead of his more experienced rivals.
"Training with more experienced players will help me so much. It was the same when I was training with the first team at Birmingham," he said.
"I believe I can become a first-choice striker here. I have to work hard to get my chance, and then take it when it comes.
"Right now, it's about getting my fitness because I had to have an operation on my thumb after only three days of pre-season.
"I missed a week up until the operation and two weeks out with it, and then I had another week of rehabilitation.
"I was on a bit of a downer because I missed a tour to Hong Kong. I had to stay behind.
"When I came here it was my first full week of training.
"There were one or two other League One clubs interested, but I spoke to my agent and he advised me that this was the best move for me.
"It's a big club and it was successful last season in League Two. He spoke with the manager and he has high hopes for the season."
Jervis, who joined Birmingham from Shrewsbury Town as a 15-year-old, ultimately wants to build a successful career in the top-flight of English football at St Andrews.
"It's good being at a club like Birmingham," he said. "We got to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup, but got hammered 6-1 by Liverpool.
"It was still a good experience to go that far in a competition like that. It was nice to be in a team of young players creating a buzz at a big club like Birmingham.
"We were doing well in the youth league as well as the cup. Nine or ten of us got professional contracts, so ours is like the 'golden year', if you like.
"Hopefully I will get the chance to show what I can do at the highest level one day. They are a Premier League team so it would be great to build a career there.
"I definitely want to be pushing to get in their team next season. I thought I was going to this year but things happen.
"I'm happy to be at Notts, and want to do the best I can while I am here."
