January transfer window: Nottingham Forest - Dedyrck Boyata added to McLeish's wish list
Nottingham Forest are looking to increase their defensive options by signing Manchester City full back Dedyreck Boyata.
Alex McLeish is targeting the Belgium international who can fill the void left by Aston Villa full back Alan Hutton.

Dedyrck Boyata is a versatile defender who can play at right back and in the middle of defence.
The capture of his signature would further Forest's depth at the back after the club confirmed the signing of Elliot Ward, who joins Forest on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old, who has made 10 appearances for the Premier League Champions, has recently completed a loan spell at Steve McClaren's FC Twente.
He also spent last season on loan at Bolton, but Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, has agreed to off load the defender on yet another loan deal -in order gain further first team experience.

“Patbrett,
Exactly! IMO promotion this season is now a long shot; i would love to see Forest start pre season in the summer with a back four that has already played together and been given a chance to settle; to go into next season with that in place would be a real boost to our chances next year.
That of course, means buying the players now, in this window; or at the very least loaning players with a serious intent to make those deals permanent. I think that's true of Ward, and possibly Ayala, but this Chilean fellow, or Man City's Belgian international starlet? Hmmmm....”

“I just want to see a solid, settled, defensive unit given time to knit together. I personally feel that the main problem at Forest is the constant chopping and changing. We need a good reliable keeper, with a round peg in round hole back four over a stable period of tine. Not, One week Harding, next week Halford, or one week Ayala next week Ward, or one week Hutton next week Maloney. all this is a recipe for confusion. Get your first choice back 4, and only change for injuries or suspensions. Stability, thats the key.”

“What's with the anti-Burke comments !? When he was in Div 1 2 years ago, he was linked with Villa and Wigan. He is a good player and would improve us. Better than Lewis 'one pace' McGugan, Jonathan 'past-it' Greening and Guy 'which way are we kicking?' Moussi.”

“I heard we had an offer for Chris Burke turned down by Birmingham. Would be a decent addition!”

“Chris Burke of Bham City is one of the better midfielders in Div 2 - and apparently we are linked with him.....Bham are broke (fact) so IF the AL Hasawis are the real deal and IF AM has been brought in to get us up, then they need to back him with the requisite £2m+ bid so that Alex can get his man. Maybe we can through Camp or McGugan into the deal. Burke is quality.”

“At last we are heading in the right direction
However I think we should be looking at permanant signings sooner rather than later.”
