CELEBRITY chef Jamie Oliver has promised to "do the city proud" as he announced the opening date for his new restaurant in Nottingham.

Jamie's Italian will open in Low Pavement on Monday, February 7.

The restaurant's building dates back to the 1600s and until recently was the Italian furniture shop, JASS.

The owners decided to sell their lease to Jamie's Italian as they felt it was the perfect business to follow theirs.

Jamie Oliver said: "I'm so excited to be bringing Jamie's Italian to Nottingham. I just know the local people will take Jamie's Italian to their hearts because it really is delicious food at a price that will please everyone – business people, students, mums and dads, everyone.

"The Nottingham restaurant is in a building with loads of history but I'm sure we can do the city proud."

“I can't wait!! We went to his restaurant in Shepherd's Bush a few months ago, the food was scrumptious, very reasonable and the staff were amazing!
Although it would be nice to bump into Jamie in there once in a while!!”
