DIED IN CRASH: Annette Marshall, whose inquest has been closed.
Her family have been trying to find out the exact details ever since with the help of Notts Coroner Dr Nigel Chapman.
But her inquest was finally closed by Dr Chapman yesterday.
Annette's sister, Susan Biddulph, who lived in Carlton at the time of her sister's death but has now moved to Cambridge, said the move had finally brought some closure
She said: "We're relieved. It's been a long slog trying to get answers.
"Dr Chapman has been absolutely wonderful. But you have got to go on. It's upsetting every time it pops up.
"It's tough that we can't get any further but it's not going to bring her back now.
"It's a long while and it's still very raw."
The 35-year-old mother-of-two, originally from Gedling, was divorced and had moved to India.
Paperwork sent to Annette's family by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office showed that a James Marshall, who was not related to her, was charged with driving in a rash and negligent manner in an Indian court in December, 2002.
But the Foreign Office told the family they needed to hire a lawyer to find out whether Marshall was prosecuted.
The family could not afford a lawyer and Dr Chapman decided to close the inquest yesterday.
Dr Chapman said: "We have received little information. The only information we got, and I had translated, was the deceased was travelling on a motorcycle on a road at one o'clock on the 25th of September.
"The machine hit some sand on a road and tipped over, throwing Annette off. She slid along the road, colliding with an electrical junction box, sustaining her severe injuries. The driver was charged for driving the motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner but I can't get an outcome from the court."
The inquest heard that Annette died of heart and brain damage. Dr Chapman recorded a narrative verdict, saying: "She died as a result of a road accident in Goa.
Annette left behind two sons, Delroy and his older brother Paul, who died in 2007 from suspected sudden adult death syndrome, at the age of 25.
