NOTTINGHAM Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury is a doubt for the Championship clash with Brighton at the City Ground next Saturday.

Lansbury sustained injuries to his shin and calf during last night's England U21 match against Romania and was substituted  after just two minutes.

Lansbury, making his first start for Stuart Pearce's side in more than a year, had burst down the right but came off worse in a challenge with goalkeeper Laurentiu Branescu.

He has returned to the club for treatment and will be assessed over the coming days.

“King Billy- You could have a competition to try and guess Andy Hooligans name but if that fails you could allways just click on his username! If you do decide to have a competition though count me in, my moneys on Hooley.”

“Sticking to this debate i have a massive contridication.
I was so pleased when the FA took David Platt off our hands and paid us compensation unless we paid them compensation.
The downside being the England U21 so forceful under Peter Taylor went backwards.
Now he collects his fat paypacket with Franchiseter City whos previous owner made a cool 90 million on the sale of Commonwealth Stadium which we the tax payers paid for!
Like Ancient Red said the premiership has a lot to answer for.”

“Oh, and just time for one more before I hit the pubs - AncientRed, I never, ever thought I would agree with anything you would ever say, after...

AncientRed (23rd December 2012 "If Billy Davies was so good, why didn't he get us promoted in 2 attempts at the play-offs including 89 minutes against 10 men? Some people have short memories")

..and after your continued support for Mark Arthur! BUT, as I was just reading comments at that time rather than responding to them, it's water under the bridge now.

However, I DO agree with you when you state below "Time for McGugan to earn a new contract over a full 90 minutes"

I agree strongly. Since Billy was sacked, Lewis has never looked the same player and 4 different managers have not been able to get the best out of him. Rather than lose him on a 'free' I am sure Billy will give him a full 90 minutes and get him back to his best again, Then he will be worth a new contract. I am all for local players who support our team being given contracts if they are good enough and want to play for the badge!”

“Lots of good post here on both sides well done as always ancient red and derkraiser.
We had John McGovern up here (excellent evening) who said he would have walked up the M6 A 74 just for a chance to play for his country.
As a kid I was so proud when Hinton crossed twice and Wignall scored twice and that was England v Wales.
I respect all proper football fans whatever the colour of the scarf so this patriotic blind faith to a team can sometimes be ill advised and dangerous.
Its sad that Ferdinand doesn't want to play for England and that should be noted.
So I sit on the fence by agreeing with you both.
There is no better feeling than wearing the England tracksuit.”

    “BuddyB - thanks duck!

Just so I don't take the credit for comments below, easier to put in brackets who states what and I'll give my view at the bottom. It's been a great debate so far - Forest first or National team first?

Derkaiser ("Surely promotion is of infinitely greater importance for a club than some stupid friendly international" - "What is not meaningless to me is how Forest get on in every game they play, from a pre-season friendly, right through to games like the last eight remaining to us")

I agree VERY strongly with the above.

Derkaiser ("I'm not sure that being called up to play for a country is as great a honour as being thought you're good enough")

I agree and there has been an example at Forest. Lee Camp under Billy was being touted by the Press as being a candidate, (along with Joe Hart under McLeish), for being called up for England. Northern Ireland made Camp the offer, (because of the Grandparent qualification), and Camp accepted. There is no way that Camp, born and brought up in England would have thought it would have been a greater honour to play for Northern Ireland over England...but I assume he accepted because it was an acknowledgement by Northern Ireland that Camp was 'good enough' for International football.

TrentEndRed ("I also think that if called up for your country then it is an honour. This seems to have been lost nowadays. I do wish friendlies are stopped. There should be a worldwide ban.")

I agree...to a degree. I wish international friendlies would take place after the season ends and before the new one starts. That way, all international teams can be disadvantaged by players who have played a full season and carry the same levels of fitness/tiredness and it also provides players with a sort of pre-season fitness programme.

AncientRed ("Your idea of rejecting patriotism on a national scale but being wholeheartedly fanatical towards your club is a strange one")

I strongly disagree! The whole point about being 'fanatical' about your club, is that you live and breathe your club everyday. I live and breath Forest. I look out for any information about Forest everyday. I watch every game. I feel gutted when we lose. I take exception to anything that puts Forest in danger..ex chief executives, referees, etc

I am as patriotic towards to my country as everyone else, but Forest come before my national team in my opinion...and there I give my opinion on the debate. Forest first, the England national team a close second, but second nevertheless!

    In Forest I trust!”
