A SCHOOL which was slammed by Ofsted inspectors has begun to make improvements.

Claremont Primary in Carrington was given the worst-possible rating of "inadequate" late last year.

Inspectors said they found serious weaknesses and were especially critical of the way the school was being run.

The first monitoring inspection was carried out by Ofsted in February. In the report, which has just been released, inspector Jeremy Spencer said: "Leaders are successfully beginning to tackle areas identified for improvement at the time of the last inspection."
