ILKESTON FC have added loan defenders Jake Wholey and Jide Maduako to their ranks ahead of today's clash with Stafford Rangers at the New Manor Ground (3pm).

Wholey is a 19-year-old left-back who has joined from League One Notts County, following in the footsteps of previous Magpie loanees this season, Greg Tempest and Curtis Thompson.

The youngster has made two senior appearances for the Meadow Lane club and is a direct replacement for Steven Smith, who has returned to Leicester City following his loan spell.

Maduako, 18, spent time with the Robins before Christmas but was forced to return early to parent club Leicester when picking up an ankle injury.

He helped inspire an Ilkeston climb up the table that sees them now hold ambitions of contending for a play-off place after an Evo-Stik Premier Division unbeaten run that has subsequently been extended to eight matches.

Both players are expected to figure against the Staffordshire side and go straight into Kevin Wilson's squad, giving the manager the extra defensive competition he has been looking for.

"Jake comes highly recommended, he's a player who likes to get forward at every opportunity and is a natural left-footer," said the manager.

"Jide was good for us the last time he was here and he's keen to come back because he saw how much benefit he got from playing with us before – and Leicester felt that too. He went back there as a better player.

"The lads who we have brought in on loan this season have come from League clubs where they are training every day, meaning they are fit and strong and raring to go – and I'm sure Jake and Jide will be no different this time."
