Hucknall dad completes first part of mountain challenge
A DAD from Hucknall has completed the first part of a mountain-climbing challenge to raise money for charity.Graham Dearden, 52, wants to raise at least £500 for Breast Cancer Research after losing a friend, aged 32, to the disease. To raise the cash, Mr Dearden, a dad-of-two, is going to climb a different peak or mountain in the UK each month, all dressed in pink. And in September, he will trek to Everest base camp, 17,500ft up in the Himalayas. He yesterday returned from the first mountain - Mam Tor, a 517 metre hill near Castleton in the High Peak of Derbyshire.Mr Dearden said: "Most of it was enjoyable but difficult underfoot higher up due to snow and ice."The hardest part was people's reactions to me being dressed in pink - some very odd looks and double-takes!"I just had to keep reminding myself why I was doing it, and then I was ok."
