PARKSIDE started the new year off with a trip to Birchouse in Derbyshire to fish the Horseshoe Lake.

But the match was disappointing and only five of the 15-strong field caught in howling winds.

Mo Hudspeth won with two carp for 10-14, just pipping Trevor Barnes with two carp for 9-14. Dave Smith caught a lone 1-6 fish for third spot.

Brin Marrison weighed 8-7 of skimmers, on the feeder at peg 12, to win the club match at Barnstone.

John Stone took second spot with 5-10, which included a superb 2-7 perch, on the feeder at peg 16. The next club match is not until February 12.

Meanwhile, Barnstone have been drawn away to Thoresby in the first round of the SuperCup, at Wellow Dam, on March 11.

Dave Millington topped the Bingham match on the River Glen at Pinchbeck with 8-9 of perch to 2lb on worm. Dale Adams was second with 3-12, in poor conditions.

Work to dig out silt at Peacock Lake is taking longer than expected because of the weather.

Owner Carl Gibbs hopes to re-peg the Gunthorpe venue and have it open for business again in about two weeks time.
