Horse Racing: Southwell loses January fixtures
Southwell Racecourse has been forced to cancel their fixtures for January.
The owners of the course, ARC, had told the Post last week they had hoped to return for the New Year's Day afternoon fixture at the course.
But, following an assessment period of the damage done by the recent flooding, the decision has been made to call off the 13 fixtures in January - having already pulled the plug and relocated some of the all-weather programme for December to other courses in the Midlands.
The decision has already been taken that seven of the January fixtures will now be staged at Wolverhampton and four in Lingfield, while the two National Hunt dates (on January 3 and 21) are still to find a course to stage them.
