Holt looks to bounce back from European loss to Hamilton
Snooker: Nottingham ace Michael Holt is keen to put his loss in Bulgaria behind him to focus on collecting some silverware as his 2012/13 campaign reaches the business end.
Holt has had a mixed season so far on the Players' Tour Championship, the highlight a semi-final berth at a European Tour event in Poland, but with the UK Championships qualifying next up the 34-year-old wants to be peaking at the right time.
Over the coming months Holt will be hoping for strong showings at the UKs and the Masters in January, followed swiftly by the Welsh Open.
But before then Holt needs to secure his spot in York for the UKs. To do that, by virtue of his world ranking of 29, Holt will need to make it through his qualifying final round match on Friday, with his opponent yet to be determined.
'The Hitman' did not warm up in the best style as he went out in the second round of the European Tour event in Bulgaria over the weekend, losing 4-2 to fellow Nottingham potter Anthony Hamilton.
"I would have liked to have gone better in Bulgaria but to be fair to Anthony he played brilliantly, I barely missed a pot but I didn't get a chance," he said.
"UK qualifying is always a tough one, it's a banana skin that you just want to get out the way."
