Squash: Notts hopes Mark Fuller and Oliver Holland came safely through qualifying for the 2012 British National Squash Championships at the National Squash Centre, in Manchester.

Fuller took 30 minutes to get past Daniel Hockborn 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 and then dumped Ky Hibberd (Lancs) 11-5, 11-5, 11-4.

Holland beat Will John (Wales) 11-3, 11-8, 11-7 and Jason Pike (Wilts) 11-3, 11-9, 11-5 to face No.6 seed Chris Ryder (Herts).

But Ryder proved too strong in the first round yesterday, beating Holland 11-8, 11-5, 11-5 in a 30-minute affair.

Eddie Charlton took 56 minutes to beat Adam Murrills (Cheshire) 11-13, 11-3, 11-6, 11-9 in the opening round.

But Fuller went out 4-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 to No.5 seed Tom Richards (Surrey),

Team-mate Declan James, back from the U21 World Cup, lost to No.12 seed Andy Whipp (Cheshire) 11-5, 12-14, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7 in a match that lasted 67 minutes.

A last-minute change in the men's draw was made following the withdrawal of third seed Peter Barker, the world No.7 from London, with a knee injury.

World No.2 James Willstrop is seeded to win the event.
